- 6:00am to 2:30pm
- 7:00am to 3:30pm
- 8:00am to 4:30pm
Position Objective
The Unit Support position is a member of the Surgical Day Care team. This position assist in keeping the Surgical Services Department running efficiently and safely. Unit Support functions under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and performs tasks which support the patient care area.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist with the setup of preoperative, procedure, and operating rooms by ensuring the room is clean, wiped down and all equipment/instruments are available and in working order
- Maintains inventory of surgical and patient care supplies
- Maintains knowledge of all policies and procedures as they relate to the cleaning and sterilization of instruments
- Performs biological and chemical monitoring in accordance with quality assurance standards
- Safely transport patients between various departments of the hospital
- Adhere to the cleaning and disinfection guidelines in reprocessing the endoscopes, instruments, and equipment.
- Assist nursing with the admitting and discharging of patients
- Communicates with Sterile Processing Department for Operating Room needs

Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior Experience in similar role

- Strong communication skills
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to prioritize assigned tasks
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology
- Basic Knowledge of Surgical Instrumentation is preferred
