Position Description:
The Director of Learning Technology is responsible for the strategic oversight, design, implementation, and management of educational technology systems that support the college’s mission of “creating a culture of educational excellence” by providing high-quality, accessible education.

- Collaborate with the necessary department to define and prioritize educational technology needs, ensuring alignment with institutional educational objectives and supporting the integration of technologies that enhance teaching and learning outcomes
- Act as a liaison between departments to ensure learning technologies meet instructional needs and support academic goals.
- Manage, customize, maintain, and troubleshoot the college’s learning management system (LMS), video conferencing tools, syllabus management tools, multimedia resources, digital signage, and other instructional technologies.
- Provide leadership and support for the college’s video conferencing system, ensuring effective use for instructional purposes and meetings across departments.
- Provide multimedia, instructional design, and technical support to full-time and adjunct faculty to integrate learning technologies, software, and digital tools into new and existing courses.
- Provide leadership and support for faculty development programs and workshops focused on integrating technology into pedagogy, including the creation of accessible, engaging, and pedagogically sound online and hybrid courses.
- Oversee troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues related to learning technologies, ensuring timely support for faculty and students while maintaining comprehensive resources and documentation.
- Ensure the effective functionality, continuous improvement, and alignment of the college’s LMS and instructional technologies with academic goals, enhancing teaching effectiveness and learning outcomes.
- Manage and coordinate licensing, pricing, and implementation for the LMS and related technologies.
- Develop and conduct training programs for all college staff on the effective use of learning technologies, as directed by Vice President for Instruction.
- Participate in committee assignments and outreach/recruitment activities to support institutional goals and objectives.
- Stay informed about emerging trends in instructional technology and recommend innovative solutions to enhance teaching, learning outcomes, and operational efficiency.
- Provide direction and leadership for emerging learning technologies and online instructional systems, ensuring alignment with the institution’s goals for scalability, sustainability, and support for diverse learners while promoting innovation.
- Coordinate the college’s distance education initiatives with appropriate state and national organizations to align with external standards and enhance the college’s offerings.
- Manage and maintain the college’s internal web content, ensuring it is current and accessible.
- Serve as the Internal Web Accessibility Monitor, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards (ADA, WCAG) for all learning technologies, including the LMS and internal website content, and collaborate with the Accessibility Coordinator and content editors to maintain institutional policies and uphold accessibility standards.
- Supervise to the Learning Technology Technician.
- Presence on the job is an employee’s fundamental obligation. Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is required.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Vice President for Instruction.
