Alpenrose Dairy, a 100-year-old iconic Portland brand, is seeking experienced ODA Licensed Pasteurizers to join the team in Clackamas, OR.
The Pasteurizer is an essential part of the company. The Pasteurizer is responsible for setting up, running and cleaning our pasteurization process as well as tank utilization. This includes moving & filling cream/milk tankers on property as needed. Our ideal candidate has worked in the dairy/butter industry and understands the CIP & SQF processes.

Qualifications:
- 1 years in dairy processing with a current pasteurizer's license.
- Must be able to work in a clean room environment, lift and push/pull 50 to 75 lbs consistently and work on your feet 8 to 12 hours a day.
- Safety minded.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines, have great organizational skills.
- Ability to read, write and speak English. Must be able to read orders and schedules and documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Work cooperatively with management, coworkers, truck drivers and vendors.
- Must be able to maintain a fast, physical pace.
Essential duties/responsibilities:
- Conducting pre-operational inspections of pasteurization equipment and recording findings and corrections. Run cream/milk through the pasteurization process that includes pulling and hooking hoses (2 & 3” in diameter) with hose clamps between tankers and supply pumps to tanks and pasteurizer.
- Drive the shuttle (goat) to bring trailers of cream/milk into the receiving bay, including raising and lowering trailer landing gear by hand crank. Clean milk tankers. This includes climbing on tankers, using tanker ladders and floor ladders, working off the ground up to 18 feet, all.
- Perform receiving testing needed on cream/milk before unloading from trailer or starting the pasteurization process. This requires climbing on the tanker and opening the tanker manway to dip cream for testing.
- Must have a current pasteurizer license or can obtain one within 6 months of starting the position.
- Conduct CIP (Cleaning-In-Place) process on pasteurization equipment. This includes dismantling pumps, moving hoses (2’ & 3”), using and hooking up 45/90 degree swing arm piping and clamps.
- Clock in accurately/timely to schedule and correctly using the timeclock system daily. Use the time clock accurately and correctly for all unpaid meal periods.
- Practice and support all Standard Operating Procedures, Safe Chemical Handling procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Safety is an essential function of every position. Wear appropriate safety gear always. Be aware of your surroundings. Report all near misses, on the job injuries and safety concerns.
