Alpert JFS is looking for a compassionate Domestic Abuse Outreach/Advocate to develop and coordinate all programming in the Domestic Abuse program as follows: be the point person for callers into the agency requesting help for domestic abuse, meet with clients to do safety planning and risk assessment, and help facilitate Women in High Conflict Relationships support group. This position may provide case management as needed. Provide outreach in the community via speaking presentations, expand the domestic abuse committee (KOLOT) and related activities, and supervise the Relationships & Decisions Program (teen trainers).

Essential Responsibilities: 

• Conduct initial interview and psychosocial assessment of new clients and/or be the point person for callers/clients requesting help for domestic abuse. This may include but is not limited to: crisis calls, meet with clients for safety planning and risk assessment, make referrals both within JFS and in the community as needed, maintain progress notes and complete documentation for all clients to assure adherence to best practice standards, and provide case management as needed.
• Work in partnership with the Director of Jewish Community Connections to present informational seminars and workshops in the community.
• Facilitate monthly KOLOT meetings, maintain minutes, coordinate programming, and related networking activities for KOLOT.
• Plan, recruit and manage the teen bullying and dating abuse prevention program which includes but is not limited to: Recruit, interview and train new “teen trainers” for the Relationships and Decisions program, conduct monthly meetings with the teen trainers, identify training opportunities (“gigs”) for teens in the community, including Jewish day school, expand curriculum to stay current with grant opportunities.
• Maintain ongoing relationships with community partners in the domestic abuse area (ex: AVDA, Harmony).

Requirements

• Bachelors degree from an accredited school in an area of Mental Health preferred.
• Strong project management, teamwork, facilitation, problem solving, decision-making, volunteer management, program planning, evaluation and report preparation skills.
• Must possess knowledge of current research issues in the areas of victims of abuse. 
• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records and other technologies.
• Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel). 
• Problem solving, analytical, communication and crisis management skills are necessary to assist clients and/or caregivers who may be in distress.
• Possess an understanding of and compatibility with Jewish values and traditions.
