Quality Control Microbiology Technician
Alpha Biosciences is seeking a focused, organized, and personable individual for a full-time Quality Control Microbiology Technician opening in the laboratory. Position will be full-time, 5 days a week.
This position will be primarily responsible for the preparation and testing of a variety of culture media against acceptance specifications in a timely and scientifically sound manner, adhering to standard methods and assay procedures. Will carry out routine tasks in support of laboratory operations, including, but not limited to: microbiology media preparation; plating; inoculation; incubation; colony identification; counting; and data reporting. The successful candidate must be able to independently schedule and test high throughput samples in a fast-paced environment.
The Microbiology Technician, under guidance of the Quality Control Manager, is responsible for assuring documentation and procedures are followed, updated and maintained as required by internal Quality Policies and related ISO 9001:2015 guidelines. Analysis and interpretation of results is required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Experience performing microbiology benchwork.
· Must have aseptic technique with strong attention to detail.
· Ability to use and maintain necessary laboratory equipment.
· Must have good time-management skills.
· Ability to keep accurate, legible, complete records following good documentation practices.
· Must have experience working with bacteria, yeast, and fungi applicable to a biosafety level 2 environment.
· Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Experience with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, word processing, and database applications.
· Must demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as within a team setting.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
· Knowledge of the following industry regulations: FDA (Food and Drug Administration), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) / QSR (Quality System Regulation), ISO (International Organization of Standardization).
· Knowledge of cGMP (Good Manufacturing Practice).
· Good problem solving skills with the ability to make independent decisions.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology, Biology, or other related Life Science.
EXPERIENCE:
At least 1 year of experience performing bench work in an industry laboratory, or equivalent microbiology laboratory coursework.
This position is weekdays 7:30 AM- 3:30 PM or as scheduled with QC Manager.
Compensation is commensurate upon experience and education.
