Job Title: Strategy & Operations (S&O) Analyst
Location: Cambridge, MA
Job Description:
The S&O Analyst will play a crucial role in managing and supporting various financial and operational aspects of IT projects and portfolios. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and analytics, be proficient with various tools and processes, and possess excellent interpersonal collaboration skills. This role involves budget management, financial forecasting, cost tracking, and proactive monitoring, as well as vendor and contract support. The S&O Analyst will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of projects and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Financial and Analytical Skills
• Prepare, monitor, and report on budgets for multiple IT projects or portfolios.
• Conduct financial forecasting.
• Monitor portfolio costs monthly to ensure adherence to budget guidelines and identify discrepancies (risks and affordability) early and communicate them effectively.
• Assist in operational aspects of vendor management, including contract reviews, request submissions, PO, and invoice tracking.
• Ensure data integrity in dashboards and tools by double-checking work.
• Troubleshoot portfolio-related challenges effectively leveraging available resources, including data, tools, team input, process documentation, etc.
Technology, Tools & Process Proficiency
• Use MS Office tools proficiently, including Excel (pivots, vlookups, etc.), PowerPoint, Word, and SharePoint.
• Utilize portfolio management systems and data analytics platforms like Power BI for reporting and visualization.
• Learn pharmaceutical industry-specific tools and processes quickly.
• Contribute to creating and updating SOPs, templates, and guidelines for portfolio-related processes.
• Identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, or redundant steps in operational processes and provide feedback and ideas for improvements.
Interpersonal Collaboration Skills
• Act as a reliable point of contact/support for diverse stakeholders, addressing and resolving inquiries promptly.
• Collaborate with teams across R&D technology, finance, operations, and portfolio/project management.
• Educate team members on project management processes and tools and present data clearly.
• Demonstrate a service-oriented and proactive attitude, ensuring stakeholder satisfaction.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with cross-functional teams.
Other Responsibilities
• Handle multiple projects with varying deadlines without compromising quality.
• Quickly adapt to evolving task priorities.
Qualifications:
• Educational/Professional Background: IT, Finance, Accounting, Portfolio Management, IT Operations.
• Industry Exposure: Prior experience in pharma or biotech is a plus but not mandatory.
• 4-7 years’ experience
