JOB SUMMARY
Our facility located in Yemassee, SC is in need of someone who has vast construction and maintenance knowledge and skills when it comes to the construction and maintenance of homes and other basic commercial structures. We are looking for competent Construction and Maintenance Technicians that will aid in coordinating and fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of the position at our location. The Maintenance Technician performs construction, maintenance and repair of all buildings, corals, cages and other structures. The Construction Technician performs construction, maintenance and repair of all buildings, corals, cages and other structures.
REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent or higher
- 5 years of related experience including supervisory or lead experience
KNOWLEDGE/DUTIES
- Daily keep construction areas & storage areas clean, free of debris and inventory organized.
- Daily keep maintenance areas clear and free of debris and inventory organized
- Daily review Work Orders (WOs), prioritize and address. Obtain signature from individual that requested work. Return completed WOs to supervisor.
- Provides prescribed preventative scheduled maintenance on machinery, buildings, or grounds as required
- WEEKLY: Remove/repair chain link ties & gate latches, hinges; secure bolts to corral walls; lixit repairs; pump and pressure washer repairs
- MONTHLY: Check and replace light bulbs; Cleaning/Changing filters; Check/repair lock functions; Check/repair exhaust fans; Check/repair carts & bikes; Check/repair exhaust fans
- Ensure work areas are clean and remove all debris upon exiting
- Assist construction near completion of new areas as needed (i.e. perches, towers, food bins, doors and accessories)
- Assist AC team with large enrichment construction (i.e. swings, barrels, slides, etc.)
- Performs typical and diversified maintenance tasks to support the YPC and HPC facilities
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures(SOPs) of the Company
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays when needed. This includes being placed on a rotating on call schedule to help in maintaining the facility.
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
- Meets operational standards by contributing construction information to strategic plans and reviews.

OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Proficient in using the Internet to research information, as well as MS Outlook; MS Excel and MS Word
- Good verbal, written skills
- Ability to work on a team, as well as unsupervised
- Extensive knowledge of established construction and maintenance practices, procedures and techniques as well as applicable local, state and federal building codes
- Familiarity with a wide range of equipment and tools and proficiency in skilled construction, maintenance and repair tasks
- Managerial experience in construction and maintenance
- Strong communication skills; thorough and attentive to details; able to prioritize and multitask; proactive and deadline-oriented
- Ability to read and understand work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to interact effectively with customers, vendors and employees at all levels of the organization
- Possesses a thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work.
- Possesses a thorough knowledge of practices, methods, equipment, materials and tools used in construction.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
South Carolina Driver’s License or equivalent

Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
