The Journeyman Mason is expected to have high-level knowledge of concrete forms, pours, hand tools, and machinery. This position works closely under the direction of the Foreman and should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. The role requires collaboration with the crew to ensure safety, quality, and productivity goals are achieved.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies during all tasks.
- Participate in daily crew meetings to ensure safety, quality, and productivity goals are met.
- Examine concrete forms to ensure proper construction and capacity for cement.
- Set and align forms to hold concrete to the correct depth and pitch.
- Level, smooth, and spread concrete using tools such as shovels, floats, rakes, trowels, and screeds.
- Mold expansion edges and joints using jointers, straightedges, and edging tools.
- Compact concrete with a power vibrator and finish rough surfaces using a broom.
- Apply waterproofing, sealant, and hardening components to concrete.
- Perform finishing tasks using stamping, staining, or coloring techniques.
- Direct other masons and truck drivers to ensure proper concrete pouring and smoothing.
- Assist in various construction-related tasks as assigned by the Foreman.
Qualifications:
- Minimum three (3) years of masonry experience preferred.
- Journeyman-level knowledge of mixing, pouring, finishing, and selecting concrete required.
- Valid Drivers License and Clean Driving preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
- Must be able to climb on, off, and under equipment to perform job duties.
- Ability to bend, kneel, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Skilled in using hand tools and operating mechanical equipment.
- Dependability in meeting commitments, working independently, and handling change.
- Ability to work safely and adhere to workplace and trade safety regulations.
The compensation will vary based on experience ranging between $38-$42 per hour.
