POSITION OVERVIEW:
This position is an integral part of our SurfaceCycle South-Western region and is pivotal in leading the technical business development, lead generation and growth of our business. The focus will be on fostering strategic partnerships and driving the technical aspects of business opportunities within new and existing clients across our target markets, with a special emphasis on public agencies. The role's key objectives encompass broadening our footprint, optimizing value propositions, and supporting the development of a robust orders pipeline for sustained growth.
Assigned territories for technical business development and lead generation are in UT, AZ, CO, NM and NV, although territories may fluctuate.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Cultivate and strengthen professional relationships with internal teams, external stakeholders, sub-contractors, customers, and vendors to ensure a consistent flow of leads.
- Utilize knowledge of our service offerings to educate customers and prospects and guide them towards the maximum value add solution for their needs.
- Collaborate with Estimators/Project Managers to create competitive bid packages and assist in driving opportunities to closure through stakeholder engagement where appropriate.
- Develop relationships with key decision-makers and ecosystem partners across various markets, including DOTs, counties, and municipalities to promote Cold in Place Recycling (CIR), Soils / Full Depth Reclamation (SFDR), and milling, and other SurfaceCycle services.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Company’s current and prospective customer base and target markets; identify and recommend new growth opportunities through geographic and service line expansion. Create business cases in support of those recommendations.
- Develop new lead generation approaches by utilizing and optimizing existing tools and recommending processes enhancements to drive growth. As requested, create business cases in support of those recommendations.
- Craft the strategy, budget and expected business conversion rates for attending trade shows and related association/industry events. Represent the organization at such events and monitor related outcomes while also enhancing professional relationships and engaging in technical discussions to foster business opportunities.
- Maintain awareness of market trends, competitor strategies, economic factors, and supply chain dynamics.
- Effectively utilize CRM tools for account management, pipeline development, and marketing campaigns. Optimize the use of existing capabilities and recommend new tools to improve efficiency and grow the opportunity pipeline.
- Work closely with all teams within the SurfaceCycle south region to evaluate and enhance the lead generation process to improve its success and efficiency.
- Partner with other regional business development members across the Company to leverage related development opportunities, marketing materials, etc.
- Visit job sites as necessary to engage with contractors and customers on technical matters. As requested, participate in the review of contracts and project-related challenges, and provide recommendations for resolution.
- Ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction are achieved through all customer interactions.
- Travel as necessary for business development purposes, including site visits and client meetings while conforming with related budgets.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience in a similar technical role.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a related industry technical business development role; experience in CIR, material sales, construction, or related technical fields is highly regarded.
- Proven networking and relationship management abilities, with a well-established network within the industry.
- Understanding of commercial terms and conditions, particularly as they pertain to technical projects and services.
- Highly organized with extensive detail orientation.
- Excellent communication skills, both for documenting technical requirements and conversing with diverse groups.
- Proficiency in data analysis, with an ability to interpret technical data and market trends.
- Strong negotiation skills with an understanding of technical and commercial differentiation in the market.
- Proficient technical skills including Microsoft Office and CRM applications.
- Valid driver license with satisfactory MVR.
- Ability to undertake extensive travel, including overnight stays, with expected travel over 50%.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Typically works in an indoor office relatively free from environmental conditions or hazards.
- Will be subject to conditions related to travel by car/air.
- May occasionally work outdoors with outside temperatures ranging from excessive heat, cold, wind, and precipitation.
- As necessary, must be able to wear personal protective equipment, including hard hats, safety goggles, safety vests and/or ear plugs.
- While working outside, must be aware of navigating moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with moving parts including exposure to sounds and noise levels that may be distracting or uncomfortable.
- Potentially exposed to contaminants, such as dust or fumes from exhaust; frequent exposure to hazardous equipment.
- Positions in this class may include extended sedentary or standing positions, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, movement and repetitive motions.
- Use of office equipment and computers.
- Occasional lifting of supplies and materials from time to time.
