What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Engineer - Aerospace Manufacturing position at Alpha Q, Inc.?
Alpha Q, Inc. has remained a leading manufacturer in the state of Connecticut for over fifty years. We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer to support our Colchester, CT manufacturing plant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the position to include, but not limited to:
- Process parts from a blueprint, raw material to final assembly
- Process a variety of parts made from aluminum, magnesium, stainless steel, Inconel titanium, etc.
- Determine process and tools required to achieve product specifications and business objectives
- Read and interpret blueprints, geometric tolerances and symbols to meet military and commercial specifications
- Design fixtures and tooling
- Analyze and resolve day to day production problems; this position requires a high degree of problem solving skills and machining knowledge
- Material Review Board (MRB) process and complete repairs for nonconforming parts
Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and abilities:
- Knowledge of aerospace welding, coatings, heat treatment, machining, and grinding
- Strong understanding of SolidWorks, CAD, & Mastercam programming software
- Strong interpersonal skills and problem solving ability
- Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment
- Familiarity with CNC programming a plus
Education & Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another related field
- 3-5 years of practical experience, or equivalent education
- Interest in aerospace industry and/or manufacturing

Hours: Standard Office Hours are Monday - Thursday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Must be willing to work project-driven overtime as needed
Must be a “US Person” as defined by US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR related data.
Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English at a functional level.
