Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Structural Professional Engineer to join our team in Los Angeles, CA. This individual will play a crucial role in ensuring the structural integrity and safety of our projects. The main responsibilities include performing structural calculations, stamping engineering plans, conducting field observations, and making necessary field modifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, a proven track record of hands-on engineering experience, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Structural Calculations: Conduct structural analysis and design calculations for various building systems and structures to ensure compliance with local codes and standards.
- Stamp Plans: Review and approve engineering plans, designs, and drawings for projects, ensuring all calculations are accurate, and the final plans meet legal and regulatory requirements. Stamp plans in accordance with professional standards.
- Field Observations: Conduct on-site field inspections and observations to assess the progress and quality of construction. Ensure that work is carried out according to the approved plans and specifications.
- Field Modifications: Collaborate with the engineering and production team to recommend and implement any necessary modifications during construction to resolve unforeseen issues and improve design functionality.
- Compliance and Documentation: Ensure that all engineering work complies with relevant codes, safety regulations, and industry standards. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to design, modifications, and inspections.
- Client Interaction: Communicate with clients and executives, providing expert advice and technical support as needed throughout the project.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related field) from an accredited institution.
- Licenses & Certifications: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of California, with the ability to stamp and approve plans. Additional certifications in structural engineering are a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on both design and field observation. Previous experience with field modifications is highly desirable.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles and codes (e.g., CBC, IBC, AISC, ACI).
- Proficient with structural analysis and design software (AutoCAD).
- Experience with field inspections, construction observation, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
