Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Millwright to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial machinery and equipment. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while ensuring safety and efficiency. Please note that this position will require a combination of shop work and field service. This position will require traveling to Baltimore, Philadelphia, and surrounding regions.
Responsibilities
- Understanding of equipment lockout/tagout guidelines and permit processes including but not limited to safe work permits, hot work permits, confined space permits, and other permits commonly mandated on industrial chemical sites
- Install, maintain, and repair various types of machinery and equipment in an industrial setting.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Perform preventive maintenance on various equipment ranging from rotating equipment, fixed equipment, packaging equipment, and material conveying equipment
- Perform precision laser alignments of pump/motor shafts and other similar rotating equipment
- Remove, disassemble, evaluate, reassemble, and reinstall rotating equipment
- Collaborate with maintenance supervisor and reliability engineers to provide insights on equipment performance.
- Assist with equipment root cause failure analysis
- Thoroughly communicate with millwright contractor owner, client supervision, and other crew members
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
- Provide repair notes, recommendations, and detailed findings on assigned shop job packets
- Ability to work in numerous types of industrial environments which can often be dirty, noisy, and be less than ideal conditions
- Mandatory use of required PPE (No Exceptions)
Skills
- Experience using precision tools including but not limited to inside/outside micrometers, dial indicators, vernier calipers, machinist levels, telescoping gauges (snap gauges)
- Proficient with the use of shaft laser alignment devices
- Experience with repairs and/or rebuilds of centrifugal pumps and positive displacement pumps
- Experience with conveyors including but not limited to replacing belts, splicing belts, tracking belts, and bearing/drive replacements
- Experience with replacement of mechanical seals
- Experience handling and installing bearings of all types
- Basic understanding of hydraulics and mechanical systems.
- Rigging experience is preferred
- Experience as an industrial mechanic with a focus on troubleshooting and repairs.
- Although not required, competence in mig, tig, or stick welding is a plus.
- Minor fabrication skills are a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to foster positive client relationships.
- Proficient with filling out paperwork generated from CMMS systems so equipment history repair notes can be archived.
- Ability to be self-sufficient at times with minimal supervision other than initial instructions and work assignments handed out
- Mobile equipment experience is preferred including but not limited to forklifts, high reaches, and scissor lifts
