What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) position at Alpha Wound Care Solutions & Wellness LLC?
We are seeking experienced medical assistants who provide wound care to patient. This includes but is not limited to cleaning and dressing wounds, applying bandages, and monitoring the progress of the wound examines patients to detect issues requiring medical care, administers treatment and personal care procedures, and keeps accurate records of the patient’s progress and reports any changes to the physician.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the RN and medical director with wound care procedures, including dressing changes and debridement.
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are available for wound care treatments.
- Clean and sterilize instruments and maintain a sterile field during procedures.
- Take and record vital signs, patient history, and wound assessments accurately.
- Educate patients on wound care management, dressing changes, and post-treatment care.
- Assist with patient mobility and positioning for wound examinations and treatments.
- Apply and remove wound dressings under supervision, following proper wound care protocols.
- Document patient interactions, treatments, and progress in electronic medical records (EMR).
- Communicate effectively with the healthcare team to ensure smooth clinic operations and patient care.
- Schedule follow-up appointments and coordinate referrals as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, following infection control guidelines.
- Handle administrative tasks such as stocking medical supplies and managing patient paperwork.
- Provide compassionate support to patients, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort during treatments.
Qualifications:
- Must have completed a clinical medical assistant externship or have at least two years of experience as a medical assistant. (Resumes that do not meet this requirement will not be considered.)
- Wound Care Certification (WCC) is preferred; candidates who already have this certification will be given first consideration.
- If not already certified, candidates must obtain their Wound Care Certification within 90 days of hire.
- Strong knowledge of wound care principles and infection control protocols.
- Experience working in a wound care, dermatology, or similar clinical setting is a plus.
- Excellent communication and patient education skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) documentation
- Able to triage patient problems
- Familiar with and compliant with OSHA/HIPAA, infection control, and Blood Borne Pathogen Standards
- Experience measuring vital signs and preparing patients for appointments
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, and ICD-10 codes
- Basic computer skills and experience in EMR utilization
