What are the responsibilities and job description for the After school group leader position at AlphaBEST Education, Inc.?
Before and After School Care Staff- Glen Haven Elementary School-Silver Spring MD
Here's what you'll need :
High school diploma, certificate of high school equivalency OR
Successful completion of at least 6 credits from an accredited college or university
AND 1 year of experience working with children in an approved setting, (registered child care home, licensed child care center, nursery school, church operated school, or similar setting)OR 1 year of experience as a registered family child care provide or
1 year of college (30 semester hours) You will have to complete a work verification paper that is completed by their past employer
OR Combination of experience and college that equals 1 year
If not certified but if you have experience / college we do provide Training certification of 45 hours school age and 45 hours growth and development for promotion to Group Leader at no cost.
Must complete in 6-7 weeks.
In addition, you will need :
- 90 Hour Certificate in School Age Development and Curriculum
- Medication Administration Certificate
- Emergency Preparedness Certificate
- Ability to motivate and engage children and manage behavioral challenges.
- Serves as a positive role model; must be enthusiastic, energetic, creative and sensitive to children.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet program staffing needs.
- Good judgement and sound decision making.
- Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children.
Required licenses or certifications :
- Medication Administration
- Emergency Preparedness
- 90 Hour School Age Curriculum and Development
- First Aid and CPR

Location : Glen Haven Elementary School 10900 Inwood Avenue Wheaton-Glenmont MD 20902
Schedule : No weekends! Part time Morning Care 6 : 15am-9am Afternoon care 3pm-6 : 30pm.

As an AlphaBEST Assistant Guide, you'll be trained to do the following :
- Assist AlphaBEST Guides as they lead a group of student explorers through exciting adventures in fitness, the arts, technology, and more!
- Have fun!
- Work collaboratively with peers to ignite children's sense of wonder.
- Encourage creativity and intellectual curiosity by building on students' interests and talents.
- Provide a caring, family-oriented environment where positive staff, child, and parent relationships are fostered.
