A successful Credentials & Talent Development Specialist:
The successful Credentials and Talent Development Specialist will play a vital role in ensuring that Alpha educators are both fully credentialed and continuously growing in their careers. This position combines credential management with strategic professional development planning to elevate teacher effectiveness across our TK-12 schools. The ideal candidate is an organized and relationship-driven educator who thrives at the intersection of compliance and coaching—someone who can navigate the California credentialing system while also designing and supporting meaningful learning experiences for staff. Whether coordinating permits and induction programs, leading PD strands for instructional support staff, or advising teachers on growth opportunities, this person will be instrumental in building strong educator pipelines and supporting staff success from onboarding through long-term development.
The Credentials & Talent Development Specialist will:
Talent Development
- Design and support the development of PD strands and sessions, including those for instructional support staff development and targeted teacher workshops (in support of Talent and Academic teams strategic initiatives)
- Facilitate professional development sessions based on experience and needs.
- Support early career educators by developing clear growth plans and conducting coaching meetings to support development in education
- Serve as a resource for employees seeking guidance on growth opportunities, PDs, certifications, or additional training.
- Partner with the Principal Director of Talent Development on logistics and facilitation of professional development for APS educators.
- Manage the calendar for professional development events, including network-wide and role-specific PDs throughout the school year and summer.
- Organize and coordinate professional development logistics, including location setup, material preparation, communication, and attendance tracking.
- Collaborate with School Leaders, the Talent Team, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of PD events.
- Own facilitation of some PDs dependent on level of experience
- Administer Talent team internal assistance funds (such as Tuition Assistance program, Continuing Education fund, and classified educator grant)for new and tenured teachers and external grants in support of creating teacher credential pathways for staff.
- Establish policy documents, trackers, and procedures that ensure program and grant processes are administered lawfully and consistently
Credential Management
- Own management of educator credentials across Alpha Public Schools ensuring all teachers are fully and correctly licensed
- Support teachers of record with filing permit and credential applications as appropriate
- Support teachers and leaders with additional permits as needed for ELL or across subject matters
- Support substitute teachers with filing 30 day substitute permits
- Advise teachers and instructional support staff on individual credentialing pathways, providing timely support and guidance on upcoming expiration dates.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with institutions to support our teachers in furthering their credentials (such as Induction, Early Completion Option (ECO) Credentialing programs and Internship programs)
- Maintain positive relationships with Santa Clara County Office of Education HR/Credentials department and CTC
- Partner with HR team to monitor and track credential status and updates

You Possess...
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 2 years teaching experience (CA teaching credential preferred)
- Experience supporting professional development, ideally in a TK-12 public school setting
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with staff and external partners.
- Proficiency in data management and reporting
- Experience with filing teaching permits and/or credentials with the California CTC (Preferred)
- You possess the ability to translate complicated licensure legalees for new educators with no experience with CA teacher credentialing and/or licensure
