Job Description:
JOB PURPOSE:
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations of the facility, ensuring that all equipment and systems are functioning efficiently. This role involves managing a team of maintenance technicians, coordinating repairs, and implementing preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and enhance operational efficiency. Develop and maintain training plans and guides for maintenance team members. Provide effective leadership to maximize production while maintaining a high degree of employee satisfaction.
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Effectively and efficiently perform tasks of Level III Maintenance Tech.
- Manage daily Maintenance Department employee activities such as timekeeping, vacation, overtime, and employee attendance policies.
- Provide performance feedback to employees on a regular basis.
- Keep management informed about team operations on a regular basis.
- Prepare timely performance reviews for Maintenance employees.
- Schedule and prioritize maintenance tasks to ensure timely completion of work orders.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to prolong the lifespan of equipment
- Oversee all equipment repairs and ensure that work is completed on time.
- Train Maintenance employees.
- Accountable for meeting or exceeding safety standards.
- Prepare requisitions for Maintenance Department.
- Coordinate and oversee external contractors for specialized maintenance tasks and repairs.
- Order repair parts.
- Responsible for spare parts inventory.
- Monitor and maintain budget within operating limits.
- Generate documents to support equipment changes regarding additions, modifications, and deletions of planned maintenance activities.
- Deliver objectives in support of downtime reduction, reduced equipment maintenance costs, and reduced losses due to scrap.
- Carry out duties in compliance with all city, state and federal regulations and guidelines including, but not limited to the following: FDA, EPA and OSHA.
- Maintain maintenance task recordkeeping (CMMS).
- Other job functions as assigned by Maintenance Manager.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required).
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with a preference for candidates who have completed additional technical training or certification in maintenance management. A minimum of 4 years of experience in a maintenance role, including supervisory experience, is preferred.
Experience: 4 years minimum required
Technical:
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently operate all plant equipment, including but not limited to: electronic instruments, welders, torches, lathes, saws, grinders, basic hand tools, belt lacers rotary hammers, drills, threaders, computers, presses, benders, plasma cutter, trucks, drain reamers, pumps communication equipment, forklifts, manlifts and HVAC equipment, advanced PLCs
- Ability to perform basic to complex machine setups
- Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
- Great time management skills
- Troubleshooting expertise, and the ability to teach others
- Ability to work with materials such as metals, plastics, piping, wiring, concrete, machine components, lubricants, solvents, fittings, fasteners, power transmission equipment, belting, steam and compressed air.
Communication:
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely (verbally and written)
- Ability to explain, teach, and coach processes, procedures, and concepts
- Ability to provide constructive and timely feedback
- Basic computer skills (email, CMMS)

The employee may be frequently exposed to allergens and/or airborne particles in the production area. Production employees are exposed to temperatures ranging from 50 to 115 degrees, depending on the season and workstation, and maybe working near moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions may occur.
The noise level in the work environment may be loud while production equipment is running.
Personal Protection Equipment (including, but not limited to, boots, gloves, safety glasses, and/or face shields) is required during various processes in the production area. Ear plugs and bump caps are always required in the production area.
