Job Description:
The Vice President of Engineering and Continuous Improvement is a high-level executive responsible for leading Alphia's capital and investment strategy across the company. This role will oversee the Engineering and Improvement Teams while executing the company's comprehensive continuous improvement strategy, aligned with its overall business objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Team Management: Manage a team of engineers to complete projects across engineering, fabrication, and maintenance.
- Project Distribution: 50% travel to various plants across the country to determine the scope of engineering projects and distribute tasks to engineering, automation, and fabrication teams.
- Capital Planning: Assist engineers with the annual capital planning program by providing information on cost reduction projects, identifying necessary equipment replacement, and evaluating non-cost reduction projects.
- Long-Range Facilities Planning: Provide engineering expertise to support facilities planning by assisting in the valuation of future repairs or replacements to ensure plant production capabilities and develop reliable utility resources.
- Continuous Improvement Strategy: Develop and implement a company-wide continuous improvement strategy and roadmap through engineering and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a high-performing team of continuous improvement professionals.
- Improvement Projects: Identify, prioritize, and execute high-impact improvement projects across the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
- Master's degree in business administration or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in continuous improvement, operations, or a related field.
- Proven track record of leading successful continuous improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of lean, Six Sigma, and other improvement methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong project management skills.
- Black Belt certification in Six Sigma preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Knowledge of change management principles.
- Proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools.
