Position Summary: The Assistant Controller is responsible for assisting in managing the financial operations of the Alpine country club, ensuring that accounting functions are performed accurately and efficiently. This role supports the CFO in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations. The Assistant Controller will help oversee the day-to-day accounting tasks, monitor financial transactions, and contribute to the development of financial strategies that support the club’s goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Prepare detailed reports on financial performance, including budget variances and profitability analysis.
- Ensure the timely and accurate recording of financial transactions.
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- General Accounting:
- Assist with the day-to-day accounting functions, including billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.
- Ensure all accounting entries are accurate and in compliance with internal controls.
- Reconcile club bank accounts and credit card statements monthly.
- Assist with inventory management and valuation, including food, beverage, and retail items.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Support the CFO in monitoring and analyzing budget variances and providing recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborate with department heads to ensure budget compliance and alignment with organizational goals.
- Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Assist in maintaining and improving internal control systems to safeguard assets.
- Ensure compliance with all tax and regulatory requirements.
- Support audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor queries.
- Monitor compliance with club policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
- Payroll:
- Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely payment of employees.
- Assist with maintaining employee benefits records, deductions, and compensation data.
- Special Projects:
- Participate in ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects as requested by the CFO or management.
- Assist in system upgrades or changes in accounting software as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CPA track preferred, but not required.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, preferably within the hospitality, club, or similar industry.
- Experience with general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (experience with Jonas Club Software is a plus).
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Work Environment:

Pay Range
USD $95,000.00 - USD $105,000.00 /Yr.Salary : $95,000 - $105,000
