Compensation for Substitute Teaching : Starting at $90-120 / day
Based on level of education / teacher certification)
A Day in the life of a Substitute Teacher :
- Flexible work days Monday through Friday, must be available 7 AM - 5 PM (7 AM - 12 PM / 12 PM - 5 PM for half days)
- Implement and follow lesson plans provided by the absent teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students
- Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment
- Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student
- Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, on the playground and in the cafeteria
- Provide in-class assignments based on the available lesson plan
- For long-term substitute teacher : develop lesson plans with the help of department heads (admin or teachers) and assignments consistent with the regular teacher's past lesson plans
