Children’s Play Therapist
The Bridge is seeking a compassionate Children’s Play Therapist who is responsible for providing therapeutic intervention for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. This role involves developing interdisciplinary therapeutic plans to assist in crisis resolution by conducting initial assessment with clients impacted by domestic violence and/or sexual assault. The Children’s Play Therapist will evaluate family goals toward self-sufficiency by conducting on-going assessments and family/individual counseling. Prepare clients dealing with domestic violence and sexual assault by providing preparation and coping methods through diagnostic and treatment procedures; providing information regarding the impact of domestic violence and sexual assault; minimizing psychological trauma.
The caseload for this position will consist of approximately 75% children (ages 4-17) and 25% adults. Provide opportunities for client based experiential learning to observe clients and provide constructive feedback on interpersonal skills. Additionally, provide legal advocacy by accompanying clients to court hearings, testifying as an expert witness, and debriefing clients after court appearances.
The Children’s Play Therapist will contribute to the overall mission of by providing crisis intervention services by answering 24 hotline and 24 hours on call on a rotating basis to provide on-site advocacy at local hospitals and with local law enforcement at the scene. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking latest psychological practices; participating in professional societies. Additionally, the Children’s Play Therapist will contribute to the Bridge’s overall mission by assisting with awareness events and community projects as requested and accomplishing related results as needed.

- Schedule: Must be able to work flexible schedule; primarily Monday through Friday with three late evenings per week; i.e., 11:00AM-8:00PM, with occasional weekend hours, as required by program needs
- $65,000 annually

Required Skills & Qualifications
- A Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling
- Must be a licensed counselor in the State of Texas
- Must be a Registered Play Therapist, or be willing to work towards this certification
- If not currently a Registered Play Therapist, must hold a professional certification (LPC, LMFT, LCSW)
- Must be able to work flexible schedule; primarily Monday through Friday with three late evenings per week; i.e., 11:00AM-8:00PM, with occasional weekend hours, as required by program needs
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with at-risk populations
- Bilingual; English/Spanish, preferred not required
- Must pass criminal background investigation check
- Must pass drug screen
- Must provide and maintain current TX Driver’s License
- Must provide and maintain clean driving record and annually update driving record
- Must provide and maintain current auto liability insurance
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S
- Must be able to lift/carry (40) lbs, and ascend/descend stairs in emergency shelter setting
