Human Resources & Safety Coordinator
We are seeking a Human Resources & Safety Coordinator to join our team! Reporting directly to the Corporate HR Director, you will serve as a key resource for employees and management, handling HR administration, safety programs, and workplace compliance initiatives. Position Information: This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of human resources practices. This role will be responsible for various HR duties, including recruiting, employee orientation, data collection, payroll assistance, employee relations, and implementing HR policies and procedures. Additionally, this role will contribute to strategic planning efforts and support change management initiatives within the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in office administration and the ability to successfully work independently, along with proven experience in HR roles. Proficiency in HRIS systems, specifically UKG/Kronos, is preferred. Strong background in occupational and site Safety initiatives and practices required. Must possess strong ethical values and confidentiality. This role requires a hands-on, solutions-driven leader who can effectively engage employees, maintain safety programs, and respond decisively to workplace incidents, ensuring a secure and productive environment for all team members. This is a Center of Excellence role reporting to corporate HR Director, at headquarters in Oregon.
Essential Position Functions – Human Resources:
- Assist with posting, updating and monitoring open positions in ATS for location
- Strategically recruit for all open positions
- Review applications/resumes, schedule and conduct interviews working with hiring managers to understand Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s) for various openings
- Assist employees with routine requests
- Assemble new hire and benefit packets; assist with implementation and conducting of new hire orientation meetings
- Maintain Human Resources Information System (HRIS) – UKG/Kronos
- Scan employee documents to be filed electronically
- Process new hire paperwork, screenings including I-9's and E-Verify process, create and maintain employee files
- Data entry into Excel, Word, Web based applications
- Backup Bi-Weekly Payroll Processing and assistance
- Assist HR Director during trainings and benefit open enrollment periods
- Assist HR Director in various employee meetings, investigations etc.
- Possess strong ethical values and confidentiality
- Maintain knowledge on federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Assist in the implementation of HR policies and procedures
- Maintain knowledge on latest trends, regulatory changes, technologies, and best practices within the HR field
- Be the subject matter expert in the UKG app, training employees to utilize all functions
- Other duties as assigned
Essential Position Functions – Safety:
- Participate in the Safety Committee
- Conduct Safety Orientation
- Maintain safety training documentation and requirements
- Assist with post-accident requirements and investigations
- Update and maintain Risk Management Center, or applicable training tracking to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
- Assist with Safety Audits as requested and appropriate.
- Collaborate with Managers and Supervisors to create or update SOPs to improve quality and performance.
- Design and lead safety campaigns that fundamentally drive down DART rate and accident occurrence KPI’s.

- Knowledge of OSHA, Workers Comp, DOT, HACCP, FDA, Food Safety, warehouse and equipment safety – highly recommended.
- Ability to manage all safety procedures and requirements for a warehouse and transportation.
Education & Experience:
- 2-3 years’ experience in an HR environment required.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related a plus.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems preferred (UKG/Kronos experience a plus)
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification a plus.
- Experience with successful recruiting and interviewing required
- Experience working independently, a Center of Excellence, or remote location reporting to a corporate office/location.
- 2-3 years’ experience in warehouse, distribution, facilities operations safety processes.

Supervisory Responsibility:
- This position has no direct Supervisory responsibility.
- This position receives Supervision depending upon the assignment. In some cases, Supervisor outlines steps involved in completing assignments or standard procedures are available to enable the employee to work in a routine fashion. The end results of this work are sometimes checked.
