Department: Administration

Lane Placement: Director V $125,765-184,116 (Salary will depend on experience)

Schedule: 242 contract days, 24 vacation days

Description

The Special Education Director plays a critical role in supporting students with IEP services by ensuring compliance with laws, leading the Special Education department, and effectively managing resources and personnel to align with Alpine District's Vision for Learning. The Special Education Director:

• Supports school and teacher level implementation of Alpine District's Vision for Learning for students with IEP services.
• Ensures adherence to Special Education rules and laws across PK-12 schools.
• Oversees the Special Education department and budget, collaborating with Business Services to allocate funds effectively.
• Supervises Special Education Area Directors PK-12 and related service providers.
• Synthesizes and communicates updates from USBE Special Education meetings and reports to the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning.

Qualifications

• Credentials
  
  

Appropriate administrator license authorizing service as an administrator/supervisor

• Education and experience
• Master’s degree required
• Previous administrator experience is required
• Special education experience preferred
