Medical Assistant

Are you a medical assistant looking for a change in your career? Join our Alps Pharmacy team! We will train! As part of our clinical vaccine distribution team, you will be primarily responsible for vaccine administration in our Nixa Location. You'll work with our team to perform both clinical and pharmacy technician tasks essential to patient care.

Qualifications

• Registered with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy
• Active immunization certification through an accredited organization
• Possesses strong communication skills
• Detail oriented
• Must be compassionate, patient attentive, and friendly
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner at all times
  
  

Responsibilities

• Prepares and administers vaccines in accordance with guidelines
• Ensures quality control of vaccine administration as well as proper handling and care
• Documents patient health history
• Provides observation for adverse reactions in the recovery area before and after vaccinations have been administered
• Handle billing process from vaccinations
• Cashier responsibilities
• Set up and manage deliveries for medications
• Perform high standard of customer service
• Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit.
• Receive and direct phone calls, schedule appointments, check-in patients, obtain necessary patient information to file and update patient records, and ensure all forms and consents are completed by patient
• Check-out patients
• Accepting new prescriptions orally from physician offices
• Call physician offices for prescription renewals, documenting all responses
• Prescription data entry
• Resolution of reimbursement issues
• Prescription and controlled substance bottle filling
• Simple routine compounding
• Labeling of prescriptions
• Perpetual inventory ordering, receiving and review
• Pricing merchandise
• Reviewing medication expiration dates
• Performs other duties as assigned

• The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear
• The employee is required to use hands to operate vehicles and office equipment
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds
