About the Role:

The Laboratory Analyst will be responsible for analyzing samples using manual and more complex instrumental techniques in accordance with prescribed methods and standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

About You:

 

The ideal candidate would have:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related science is preferred.
  • Laboratory experience is preferred.

 

Required Responsibilities:

  • Perform all duties associated with sample analysis of more complex laboratory tests.
  • Analyse, interpret, and review sample results, as well as peer review of other’s data.
  • Perform all quality control requirements associated with the methods and maintain appropriate records.
  • Perform all work within established quality control parameters and within specified turnaround times.
  • Record bench level observations and keep records in bound and electronic notebooks.
  • Troubleshoot and fix instrument malfunctions.
  • Maintain safe working conditions and a clean, orderly work area at all times.
  • Maintains an understanding of and ensures compliance to Quality System including the manual, system procedures (QMSPs) and procedures as applicable to ISO 17025.
  • Exercise laboratory safety practices.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

You would also be:

  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to initiate corrective action without prompting and assist co-workers whenever necessary in order to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to effectively perform duties under pressures arising from large sample volumes and short turn-around times.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to use (or learn to use) Laboratory Information Management System.
  • Adheres to safety policies and practices.
  • Must be able to lift (with both hands) and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move heavier loads with assistance.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, push, pull, stoop and crouch up to 50% of the time while performing the duties of this position.
