JOB DESCRIPTION:
An Access Control Officer is responsible for ensuring PACEM property is always secure and safe. They will secure the premises and personnel by patrolling the property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry. They prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; restraining trespassers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assume overall responsibility for the safety and security of designated areas.
- Patrol designated areas in accordance with outlined security procedures and establish presence.
- Identify potential security risks and respond accordingly.
- Complete incident reports and required documentation for all security incidents.
- Ensure all employees and visitors have proper credentials for accessing buildings.
- Respond to emergencies and incidents within designated areas promptly and according to policy.
- Escalate emergency situations to law enforcement as needed.
- Monitor and authorize entrance of vehicles or people in the property.
- Monitor alarms and security cameras.
- Ensure buildings are secured, after end of operations.
- Investigate suspicious activity according to security procedures.
- Ability to carry handcuffs and firearm adhering to the security procedures.
- Detain person(s) lawfully, awaiting arrival of local law enforcement.
- Submit required daily reports according to security procedures.
- Enforce all Policies and Procedures as published by the company.
- Demonstrate safe work practices through compliance with all company Environmental Health and Safety Policies
- Perform other job assignments as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License
- One (1) year experience in security/guard/military/law-enforcement/corrections required.
- Class D Florida Security is required within 90 days of employment.
- Class G License preferred, required within 90 days of employment.
- Experience in surveillance systems preferred.
- Computing Skills: Windows Operating System; general use of Internet web sites and search tools, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat
- Familiarity with report writing.
- Knowledge of legal guidelines for area security and public safety
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen.
- The employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms.
- The employee frequently is required to stand, walk the perimeter of the facility, and kneel.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop or crawl.
- The employee must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds with reasonable accommodation.
- Must be comfortable working in a facility where explosives and ammunition are manufactured, handled, and frequently expanded for testing and demonstration purposes.
