We offer a competitive hourly rate of $47.12 for this position.

Alsip MiniMill was formed in 2015 when Corrugated Supplies Company purchased the idle lightweight coated paper mill in Alsip, Illinois. MiniMill Technologies, Inc. took the lead on the engineering, procurement, and construction in order to convert and restart the facility to produce 100% recycled Corrugating Medium. Scope & Responsibilities:
- Position requires the highest degree of motivation to actively participate as a key member of a goal-directed work team.
- The Steam Plant Operator will safely and reliably operate high pressure steam boilers, process water treatment systems, and ancillary equipment.
- Maintains safe working conditions identifies and corrects or reports unsafe conditions in work area.
- Operates boilers, steam turbine, and ancillary equipment; manage pressure, temperatures, and flow of steam system, including boilers, feedwater, and distribution system. Obtain working knowledge of the facilities fire protection system.
- Responsible for boiler water and process water treatment testing following established testing procedures.
- Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on all equipment in utilities area. Maintains inspection and testing records.
- Responds to emergency malfunctions of assigned equipment, assesses situation, and takes action to stabilize situation to avoid further damage and make safer. Documents abnormal events and incidents to assist in troubleshooting.
- Ability to follow both written and verbal instruction.
- Obtain good working knowledge of the facilities, energy management systems as well as utilities area control systems.
- Sweep, mop, dust and paint any facilities equipment or area as assigned.
- Will stand watch as Control Operator and may oversee technical personnel as well as outside contracted resources.
Qualifications
- Completion of 2-year apprentice program preferred. 4 years at Journeyman level without an apprentice program will be considered if other forms of training and experience supersede this qualification.
