Motorsports Data Scientist
to spearhead our sports betting and data modeling initiatives for our Motorsports properties. If you have a deep passion for Motorsports, particularly Formula One, coupled with proven data modeling skills, this role is tailored for you!
Key Responsibilities :
Design and continuously improve probabilistic models on race outcomes, driver performance, vehicle dynamics, and track specifics for accurate predictions, both pre-race and in real time.
Utilize machine learning techniques to handle vast datasets, including telemetry, historical performance, and live race data to produce odds and markets for a full portfolio of motorsport leagues.
Analyze both historical and live race data to forecast results, detect trends, and provide industry leading odds and pricing.
Lead the development and maintenance of specialized analytics software and pipelines for motorsport data, ensuring seamless integration with real-time data streams.
Stay ahead of the curve in sports analytics technology, particularly advancements relevant to motorsport data like car sensor analytics, GPS, and simulation software.
Generate insightful reports and engaging presentations that convert complex data into actionable betting market strategies and effectively communicate insights to stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise.
Education & Experience & Skills :
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related quantitative fields; PhD considered for complex modeling roles.
5 years of experience in data science, with a strong preference for those with motorsport analytics and sportsbook experience.
A fervent interest in motorsports, with a comprehensive understanding of racing strategies, vehicle performance, and sport regulations, as well as a willingness to learn about new and lesser-known sports.
Deep knowledge of machine learning, predictive analytics, and time-series analysis tailored for the dynamic racing environment.
Tools :
Python (expert-level), particularly data science packages like Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, etc.
Experience with Jupyter strongly preferred
Version control tools like Git, Bitbucket, etc.
AWS knowledge / expertise highly preferred
Visualization tools like Plotly, Tableau, PowerBI, etc. highly preferred
Data / ML pipeline tools like AirFlow, MLFlow, etc. strongly preferred
