Alta Biotech, LLC is a contract research organization (CRO) specializing in molecular biology and biochemistry services. We are a startup founded in 2016 and have been growing rapidly ever since. We are currently seeking an entry-level bioscience lab technician to help provide support to our many projects; servicing our wide array of clients, assisting in their ever expanding research. The ideal candidate for this position will be very detail oriented, self-motivated, and searching to advance their laboratory skills. This is a full-time position with a typical 40-hour work week. Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher, bioscience background is preferred
- Working knowledge of standard laboratory protocol
- Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively work, problem solve, and communicate with multiple levels of the organization
- Strong agility, engagement, self-motivation and flexibility in every-day tasks
- High standards of cleanliness, organization, and work ethic
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced deadline environment while successfully managing overlapping tasks
- Ability to maintain a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy
- Desire to learn and advance skills, knowledge, and abilities
- Basic skills in Microsoft Office
- Able to lift or move up to 30 lbs
- Eligibility to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications:
- 0-2 years of experience working in a biological research laboratory
- Bachelor's degree in biology, microbiology, Cellular and Molecular Biology, or similar preferred
- Moderate experience in the handling of glassware and lab equipment such as centrifuges, autoclaves, pipettes, column chromatography, etc.
- Familiarity with sterile techniques and general sterilization procedures
- Familiarity with safety procedures and proper handling of biological materials, wastes, and chemicals
What to expect:
- Follow Alta Biotech's Standard Operating Procedures to complete projects on a daily basis
- Work with care and precision in accordance with Alta Biotech’s safety standards, and level of excellence
- Perform quality control analyses such as enzyme restriction, sequencing, sterility, and endotoxin-level analysis
- Develop and edit precise and accurate Prep and QC reports on a per project basis
- Assist in maintaining an organized lab space
- Aide stocking lab supplies and maintaining high cleaning standards of laboratories and equipment.
- Routine cleaning of labware and operation of autoclave
- Handle biological waste, and non-hazardous chemical waste
- Basic use of Microsoft Office such as Excel and Word
