Alta Care Group, the area’s leading expert in strengthening vulnerable children, is the parent organization of Alta Behavioral Healthcare, a contract agency of the Mahoning County Mental Health Board, and Alta Head Start, the County’s provider of Head Start and Early Head Start services. Today, staff consisting of nearly 300 people offers a full range of counseling, community support, 24-hour emergency crisis intervention, experiential therapy and psychiatric services to a yearly average of over 3000 children and their families.
Alta Care Group in partnership with the Family and Children First Councils are looking for a Family Peer Support Worker to help families improve and maintain their lives with a focus on their mental health and overall wellness.
Position: Family Peer Support Worker
Seeking a candidate for a part time (up to 10/week). A high school diploma (or equivalent) is required.
Must be at least 21 years old.
Background check and drug screening required.
Family Peer Support Worker’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
· Provide Family Peer Support Services to residents who reside in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties, where a youth(s) ages 0 through 21 who has needs from at least two systems (multi-system youth) has access to Family Peer Support services.
· Family Peer Support activities include but are not limited to:
a.) peer-to-peer support that facilitates effective service connection and delivery.
b.) provide community linkages and consultation.
c.) modeling of advocacy and collaboration skills and fulfilling a variety of roles.
d.) ensuring family voice at all levels of service delivery.
e.) Family Peer Support services have the goal of: connect, support, navigate, train, engage, educate, evaluate and advocate.
· Use common evaluation criteria & tools for shared projects.

o Completion Family Empowerment Survey
o Goal Tracker
o Family Peer Support Satisfaction Survey
· The Family Support Specialist (FSS) must have lived experience as a caregiver of a child with special needs or one who has accessed services through a child serving system.
· Peer services will be provided in person at least once a month with additional virtual meeting options.
· Complete a BCI/FBI background check on Family Peer Support staff assigned to this project and submit proof to Stark County FCFC.
· Participate in a standardized training program established by Stark FCFC.
· FSS must complete, or have already completed, 40 hours of initial Family Peer Support training as well as quarterly training and monthly “check ins” with the Ohio Family and Children First team.
Hourly Rate: $17.00/hour
