What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Assistant position at Alta Care Group, Inc.?
Alta Care Group is currently seeking a Health Assistant for our Head Start program. This position works under the supervision of the Health and Nutrition Manager to ensure that health services are facilitated in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards and ODJFS Licensing requirements. This position assists in the development and implementation of health services including tracking and record keeping, community relations and outreach. Collects, tracks and inputs health data in child plus for both HS and EHS. Assists with health services and health education for children, staff and parents in the HS and EHS programs.

Essential Functions:
· Follows policies and procedures for the health portion of the program with parents and staff that support the effective implementation of health services.
· Follows the system for maintenance of individual health records on children in conjunction with family services staff.
· Ensures that health records are reviewed, evaluated and interpreted. Maintains vital statistics and other data affecting health services.
· Maintains up-to-date knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards including specific knowledge of Child Health portion of the Standards.
· Assists in/oversee and participate in the screening, re-screening and follow-up for health services (medical/dental).
· Assists in the development of protocols as necessary to support healthy environments for children.
· Provides resource information to staff and families on an as-needed basis.
· Arranges for health services to Head Start/Early Head Start families in cooperation with other agencies/providers. Follows up on referrals of parents and children to other agencies/providers as needed.
· Supports the collaboration of early childhood education staff to facilitate the integration of health activities in the classroom/home-based curriculum.
· Assists as appropriate in the identification of children with potential health concerns.
· Provides information and support on providing health curriculum activities for children and families.
· All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Must be able to pass BCI/FBI background check in accordance with ODJFS Licensing regulations.
· Must be able to pass a medical exam in accordance with ODJFS licensing Regulations.
· Must be able to provide documentation of being free from communicable tuberculosis in accordance with Head Start Standards
Education and Experience: Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent required. Experience in medical record administration and data entry preferred.
