What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Technician Internship position at Alta Equipment Group?
Through our internship program, Alta Construction strives to encourage talented students to achieve excellence in their technical career. This is achieved by “real world” experience at one of our work locations.
Alta Interns will receive:
An opportunity for temporary employment, which provides practical experience and competitive salaries. All internships are paid internships.
Consideration for future internships and fulltime employment based on intern performance.
Eligibility
To qualify for the intern program, students must:
Have the right to work in the U.S.
Have daytime 20 hours a week and be in their last 6 months of the student program.
Be willing to accept the internship for at least a 12-week period
Achieve and maintain at least a cumulative 2.8 grade-point average through your last semester prior to the starting date of the intern period.
Pass a physical & drug screen and background check.
We regard interns as professionals rather than students and give you challenging assignments to provide exposure to various career options within your discipline of study.
Selection Process
Interns are evaluated and selected based upon:
Academic performance
Experience from high school automotive classes, military training or exhibit a mechanical aptitude
References from your school
Demonstrated leadership potential
Interest in a career in Construction Equipment Industry
Communication skills
Must meet initial mechanical and aptitude testing requirements
Intern candidates are interviewed during on-campus interviews. In some cases, a phone interview and a second in person interview may take place between the student and hiring manager before an offer is given.

3 months internship that includes a comprehensive program - learn and earn!
Gain hands-on in the shop experience while working with one of our mentors!
You’ll learn a solid fundamental understanding of how systems work, procedures, processes as well as safety requirements
Excellent attendance and punctuality at both school and internship
Ability to participate in and learn from all Volvo specific assigned technical curriculum

Performs other duties as assigned
Consistent, regular, and reliable attendance including being ready for work at the designated start time

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Work Environment: Frequently will work near moving mechanical parts; Occasionally experience vibration and exposure to outdoor weather conditions
