Alta Planning Design seeks an Assistant Program Manager (TDM Programs Level II or III depending on experience) for our Atlanta office. This programs role is a great opportunity for someone who believes in the importance of active, multimodal, and sustainable transportation. If you are looking to join an innovative organization and do work that connects people to places while advancing social justice, safety, and environmental resilience, apply with Alta today!

About Alta
Alta Planning Design is a sustainable transportation company dedicated to creating active, healthy communities through planning, landscape architecture, engineering, and education/encouragement programs. Alta was founded in 1996 when communities were calling for safer streets for people walking and bicycling as the non-motorized transportation movement developed into a profession in the United States. We pioneered the field of active transportation, evolving our planning and design work into a visionary global practice that empowers people to live active, healthy lives and gets them to where they need to go.

Our core values and work bring about positive change by creating places that are geared toward moving people rather than cars, connecting community members to daily needs and human experience, and empowering every person to live an active healthy life. As a global leader in mobility innovation for over 27 years with over 225 staff, we are dedicated to connecting people to places by working across disciplines and scale to address social justice, safety, and environmental resilience.

Day to Day

No two days in this role are exactly alike, but there are common work activities that will make up your week:
Leveraging transportation demand management (TDM), business and organizational development principles to help shape and implement successful projects, programs, and initiatives in support of the Perimeter Connects transportation management association (TMA), a program of the Perimeter Community Improvement Districts (PCIDs).
  • Shaping and implementing programs focused on shifting travel behaviors of a diversity of commuters and communities, with particular focus on the Perimeter submarket (Sandy Springs/Dunwoody). This may include supporting employers and their workforce in office workplaces, retailers, hotels, and restaurants.
  • Directing and participating in employer-facing outreach, sales, and partnerships for Perimeter Connects, with support and collaboration of other team members and other Alta programs.
  • Leading, planning, and staffing outreach efforts such as presentations to large groups, transportation fairs, kiosks/expos, tabling, lunch and learns, and other in-person engagement tactics.
  • Supporting data collection tasks required to inform program measurement and evaluation, with a strong data-led approach to decision-making.
  • Establishing and nurturing long-term relationships with clients, including understanding needs, expectations, and challenges, and ensuring they feel valued, understood, and supported.
  • Supporting other programs in Atlanta and throughout our portfolio. This may include helping with events, employer focused outreach or helping implement a specific project.
  • Actively engaging in continuous learning and integrating this knowledge into projects, including an understanding of emerging tools and techniques in the marketing field as they apply to our work. This involves attending trainings, workshops, and regional conferences as well as self-guided learning.
