Alta Planning Design seeks a Landscape Designer II for our Atlanta office. Alta’s landscape architecture practice is dynamic and diverse, contributing to projects at a variety of scales with a people-centered approach to our work. Day to Day
In this role, you’ll be a design contributor on a variety of corridor and recreation projects. This may include concept-level design efforts such as Complete Streets or greenway corridor studies, to detailed development of construction documents and cost estimates for parks and open space. Specific project work may involve developing 2D graphics for projects, shared use path design and feasibility, wayfinding signage design, park and open space master planning and design, and urban design. Participation in fieldwork and public meetings is also to be expected. Designers will be challenged to think at a variety of scales from the systems-level down to specific sites or intersections. Designers who enjoy working closely with other disciplines will appreciate Alta’s interdisciplinary approach that encourages collaboration with our planners, engineers, graphics designers, outreach specialists, and data analysts.
Qualifications
Required
This position requires a combination of skills, experience and education including, but not limited to
- Passion for active transportation
- Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture, urban design, or a related field
- Desire to collaborate and participate in multidisciplinary teams
- At least 2 years of relevant design experience
- Strong Adobe Creative Suite proficiency- InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop in particular
- AutoCAD and / or Microstation proficiency
- Basic knowledge of landscape architecture best practices
- Effective oral, written, and graphic communication skills
- Ability to contribute to the preparation of plans, reports, memos, and presentation materials
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to independently work on multiple projects and complete tasks at a high level of quality
- Ability to participate in public outreach or conduct site visits

What We Offer
Flexible Schedule
Alta offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule where most employees work from home three days per week. In-office days support our collaborative culture, one of our core values. The office is located in downtown Atlanta within the Fairlie Poplar Historic District. We are two blocks from Peachtree Center Station to the north and Five Points Station to the south. Our office is a part of Flatiron City, a vibrant business community with weekly social events, a coffee shop on the ground level, and walking distance to many restaurants.
Compensation
The pay range for this job in Atlanta is $60,000-$80,000 annually. Placement within the range is based upon experience, skill-sets, and qualifications.
