What are the responsibilities and job description for the Advanced Patient Care Tech-Emergency Department position at Alta Vista Regional Hospital?
: Responsible to greet, evaluate and determine necessary care. Documents patient information, condition and treatment while maintaining confidentiality and performs all care with respect for patient rights. Maintains a clean and well stocked and organized environment. Collaborates with nurses, physicians, and other ancillary hospital staff to deliver timely, safe, and competent care. Provides emergency care as applicable to the scope of practice that includes vital signs, point of care testing, phlebotomy, EKG’s, activities of daily living (ADL’s), and other emergency management skills and duties. Other responsibilities may include: answering phones, coordinating transfer of patients to a higher level of care, providing 1:1 observation for suicidal patients, stocking rooms and other tasks and duties as laid out by the state scope of practice and the hospital policies and procedures.

· : High school graduation or GED required. Successful completion of an EMT accredited program of study required.
· : BLS, ACLS and PALS required upon hire/within 90 days of hire. Current state certification or license.
· Must be flexible with work schedule, no guarantee of block scheduling, must work required holidays and weekend shifts per policy
· Full time requirements: 36 hour per week, plus applicable rotating weekends and rotating holidays
· Shift time: 7a-7p and/or 7p-7a

· Ability to work collaboratively with others and ability to work independently when needed all with patient care and safety in mind

· Responds to patient needs promptly and effectively, prioritizing care based on the severity of patient condition
· Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff
· Participate in departmental meetings, trainings and quality improvement initiatives as required
A minimum of 1 year of medical clinical experience that includes direct patient care, preferred.

Requires knowledge of general safety standards to limit exposure to infectious diseases. Daily contact with infectious diseases and bodily fluids. Bloodborne pathogens: C
: Bending, stooping, and lifting up to 35 lbs, reaching above head and below knee level. Utilization of proper body mechanics, usage with sound ergonomic principles.
