Job Summary
The Registered Nurse shall be responsible for assessing, planning, supervising and evaluating the nursing care of patients and for correlating the nursing process, the medical plan of care and policies.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates responsible decision making in planning, providing, and delegating care based on assessment.
- Communicates effectively, establishes and maintains two way communications with peers, staff, physicians and administration.
- Adapts to change in a positive, professional manner.
- Follows through on problems that may compromise patient care by using the appropriate chain of command.
- Communicates appropriate information to charge nurse/hospital supervisor/director in a timely manner.
- Maintains a clear, neat and safe environment for patients and staff.
- Correctly identifies and uses appropriately personal protective equipment.
- Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with ICD-10 coding standards.
- Seeks information/guidance from others as needed.
- Consistently uses skilled communication which demonstrates congruence between words and actions and holds others accountable for doing the same.
- Effectively role models professional behavior.
- Ensures continuity of professional care.
- Responds to patient and family requests promptly.
- Charting reflects patient problems identified in plan of care and is timely and accurate.
- Provides care to assigned patients including the activities of daily living, therapies and medications.
- Accurately follows policies in patient care including blood administration, specimen collection and labeling, and patient identification
- Organizes and prioritizes elements of patient care for self and other.
- Effectively plans interventions, evaluates response and reassesses plan of care. Documents response on the care plan.
- Safely performs IV therapy.
Requirements
Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program. BSN preferred.
Experience: Two years of experience as an R.N., one year experience in the area of application preferred
