 About Your Work 

The Credentialing Specialist for Altais Health Solutions will be responsible for administrative aspects of credentialing services to meet medical group, health plan and National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) requirements and for maintaining accurate and up to date provider information.  The Credentialing Specialist with Compliance and Sub delegation experience ensures accurate and timely credentialing and recredentialing of healthcare providers and facilities. This role includes maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, managing sub delegation agreements, and performing audits to ensure adherence to policies. The specialist acts as a liaison between providers, internal teams, and delegated entities, ensuring all credentialing activities are aligned with quality, compliance, and organizational standards.

You Will Focus On:

  • Responsible for all aspects of credentialing/recredentialing providers, to include but not limited to verification of application/documents, mailing of requests for consideration, initial applications, approval, denial, termination letters, and accurately loading provider information in the 
  • Process credentialing and recredentialing applications for healthcare providers, facilities, and ancillary organizations.
  • Verify provider credentials, including licenses, certifications, education, and professional work history.
  • Maintain provider data in the credentialing software/database, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor expiration dates of credentials and facilitate timely updates.
  • Ensure all credentialing activities comply with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., CMS, NCQA, URAC).
  • Ability to support leadership in tracking and completion of health plan audits. Prepare for and participate in internal and external credentialing audits and accreditation reviews.
  • Stay updated on changes in healthcare regulations and credentialing standards.
  • Oversee subdelegated entities to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and regulatory requirements.
  • Support initial and annual sub delegation audits, including the review of policies, procedures, and credentialing files.
  • Provide recommendations for corrective actions to address non-compliance identified during audits.
  • Develop and maintain reports to track sub delegation performance and compliance metrics.
  • Serve as the point of contact for delegated entities and internal compliance teams regarding credentialing and sub delegation.
  • Educate and train providers and delegated entities on credentialing requirements and processes.
  • Collaborate with quality, compliance, and legal teams to address and resolve credentialing or sub delegation issues.

 The Skills, Experience & Education You Bring

  • Associate’s degree or higher in healthcare administration, business, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
  • 3 years of credentialing experience, preferably in a managed care or health plan environment.
  • Minimum Experience: 3-5 years of related healthcare experience, IPA or physician practice experience in an operational role preferred; Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS)
  • Minimum 1-2 years of sub delegation experience and processes.
  • Minimum 1-2 years HICE and compliance knowledge.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation standards (e.g., CMS, NCQA, URAC).
  • Experience conducting sub delegation oversight and audits.
  • Knowledge of HICE and Health Plan Audits.
  • Strong understanding of credentialing processes, including primary source verification.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Use independent judgment and initiative within established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to Interact and maintain excellent relationships with all levels of staff and management and external contacts to support compliance and high levels of service.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to obtain, synthesize and analyze data and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to draft materials, including presentations, handouts and communications.
  • Possesses a learning and growth mindset; creative thinker.

Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements. We provide a competitive compensation package that recognizes your experience, credentials, and education alongside a robust benefits program to meet your needs.

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed in our salary posting for transparency but may vary based on factors including the candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and geographic location. This base pay range is specific to California and can vary based on Bay Area, Metro LA, and Greater California regions which may not be applicable to other locations.

Physical Requirements: Office Environment - roles involving part to full time schedule in Office Environment. Based in our physical offices and work from home office/deskwork – Activity level: Sedentary, frequency most of workday.
