About Your Work 

The Quality and Safety Specialist is accountable for activities and programs associated with Altais Health Solutions in one or more of the following areas: accreditation, risk management, and infection control. Develops strong collaborative relationships with Altais employees and other stakeholders as needed. Assists in the development and training of organization-wide systems and processes, in collaboration with clinical and administrative personnel.  Oversees the quality assurance initiatives within the clinical environment to ensure regulatory standards are met and that staff are trained appropriately to provide high quality care.

You Will Focus On:

Ensuring Compliance with Regulations and Standards

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all facilities meet all local, state, and federal regulations related to healthcare quality and safety.
  • Accreditation Support: Conduct preparatory accreditation and certification surveys, such as those conducted by The Joint Commission or other regulatory bodies.
  • Develop audit reports and assign and monitor corrective action plans.

Employee Safety and Training

  • Documents and maintains Quality, Safety and Regulatory related data, logs, and records. 
  • Establishes and maintains highly effective working relationships with all departments and employees, including physicians, clinical and administrative leaders, and frontline staff.
  • Collects, manages, and utilizes data to improve performance of all employee and patient safety programs.
  • Participates in various committees as required. 
  • Staff Training: Provide training and education to healthcare staff on quality improvement methods, patient safety protocols, and best practices in care delivery.
  • Conduct regular assessments to ensure that staff are competent in quality and safety practices.
  • Provides basic life support training to clinical staff through hybrid learning/practical skills. 

Patient Safety

  • Conducts audits of clinic locations to ensure policies/guidelines are met and monitors follow up for deficiencies in areas such as accreditation, regulatory, risk, patient safety, and infection control.
  • Collaborates with medical staff on any expressed issues/concerns and provides training when required.
  • Reinforces a safety culture through reporting of unusual events or safety concerns.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Lead or participate in investigations of safety incidents to determine underlying causes and develop strategies to prevent recurrence.
  • Implement and monitor risk reduction strategies, such as infection control protocols, medication safety initiatives, and fall prevention programs.
  • Design, implement, and oversee projects aimed at improving the quality of care, reducing errors, and enhancing patient safety.
  • Lead quality and safety committees, task forces, or project teams within the organization.

Quality Initiatives

  • Provides oversite and training of quality assurance (QA) programs within the clinics, to include Point of Care Testing (CLIA), Infection Control, Sterile Processing and use of other clinical equipment.
  • Performance Metrics: Track, analyze, and report on key quality indicators such as survey/audit results, infection rates, and hand hygiene audits.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement continuous quality improvement strategies.
  • Prepare detailed reports for leadership, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders on quality and safety performance.

The Skills, Experience & Education You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Degree/certification in healthcare or safety related field.
  • 2-5 years of related experience in a clinical laboratory or other healthcare setting.
  • Experience utilizing Electronic Medical Records.
  • Experience with point of care test devices, CLIA standards and quality control measures.
  • Proven background developing reviewing and updating policies, plans and guidelines.
  • Preparing reports, performance improvement/action plans, and performance dashboards.
  • Strong safety mindset and background with a safety culture.
  • Ability to work independently and within teams to achieve system goals and initiatives.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to solve identified issues in a timely manner.
  • Ability to identify risks and analyze, make corrective actions and follow-up to ensure resolution.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly articulate training materials, subject matter expertise, and other viewpoints to a diverse audience.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced team environment.
  • Project management skills and ability constructively manage non-direct reports to achieve common goals.

Altais values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements. We provide a competitive compensation package that recognizes your experience, credentials, and education alongside a robust benefits program to meet your needs.

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed in our salary posting for transparency but may vary based on factors including the candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and geographic location. This base pay range is specific to California and can vary based on Bay Area, Metro LA, and Greater California regions which may not be applicable to other locations.

Physical Requirements: Office Environment - roles involving part to full time schedule in Office Environment. Based in our physical offices and work from home office/deskwork – Activity level: Sedentary, frequency most of workday.
