Role
The Symitar Ops Specialist is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and support of Symitar core banking systems within the organization. This role involves ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of Symitar applications, as well as providing technical assistance to end-users and IT staff. The specialist will collaborate with various stakeholders to optimize system performance, implement upgrades, and resolve issues in a timely manner. Additionally, they act as a lead for projects within the department and helps organize resources and deliverables.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
System Administration: Manage and administer Symitar core banking systems, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of software components. Ensure system availability, reliability, and security through proactive monitoring and management.
System Upgrades and Patches: Plan, coordinate, and execute upgrades, patches, and enhancements to Symitar software. Conduct testing and validation to ensure compatibility, functionality, and stability of system upgrades.
System Integration: Collaborate with IT teams and third-party vendors to integrate Symitar systems with other banking applications, platforms, and services. Coordinate data migrations, interfaces, and integrations to streamline business processes and improve efficiency.
Support Responsibilities:
- Provide first-level support to end-users via phone, email, or in person.
- Respond to inquiries, diagnose and resolve technical issues related to computer hardware, software, peripherals, and network connectivity.
- Escalate complex issues to appropriate internal teams or external vendors for resolution.
- Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, and peripherals.
- Set up new user accounts and profiles and assist with password resets and account management.
- Collaborate with other IT team members to identify and implement process improvements and system upgrades.
- Create and maintain documentation for troubleshooting procedures, FAQs, and knowledge base articles.
- Conduct training sessions or create user guides to educate end-users on software and hardware usage best practices.
- Assist in the procurement of IT equipment and software licenses as needed.
Incident Management: Respond to system incidents and service requests according to established procedures and service level agreements (SLAs). Document incident details, root cause analysis, and resolution steps for future reference and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills
Experience
Two to Five years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
A high school degree or GED is required. Certifications such as Symitar PowerOn Programming, Symitar Episys Administrator, or equivalent are a plus.
Interpersonal Skills
A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders. Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Other Skills
Previous experience (3 years) in supporting and administering Symitar core banking systems. Strong technical proficiency in Symitar Episys, PowerOn programming, SymXchange, and related modules. Knowledge of banking operations, financial services, and regulatory requirements (e.g., NCUA, FDIC).

Physical Requirements
Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
Working Conditions
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Salary : $86,625 - $118,450
