The Coordinator of Veteran Services will be responsible for providing support and coordination of services for military veterans and their families. This position will serve as a key resource for connecting veterans to behavioral health services, community resources, and support systems. The coordinator will work closely with both internal staff and external partners to ensure veterans receive comprehensive, culturally competent care that addresses their unique needs and challenges.

- Veteran Outreach and Engagement Identify and engage veterans who may benefit from behavioral health services, outreach through community events, and work with local veterans’ organizations to ensure access to care.
- Clinical Services Provide effective clinical assessment of the patient and formulate an appropriate treatment plan along with the patient. Provide individual, group and family therapy utilizing basic therapeutic models and theories according to the patient’s needs as stated in the treatment plan.
- Service Coordination Coordinate and facilitate access to behavioral health services, ensuring veterans are connected with the appropriate clinical, case management, and support services.
- Care Navigation Serve as a point of contact for veterans and their families, providing information about available services and guiding them through the intake, assessment, and treatment processes.
- Collaboration Build and maintain relationships with veterans’ service organizations, community resources, local VA offices, and other agencies to create a robust network of support.
- Case Management Monitor the progress of veterans in care, ensuring that they are receiving appropriate services, and provide referrals as needed to meet their individual needs.
- Documentation and Reporting Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, tracking client interactions, progress, and outcomes. Ensure compliance with confidentiality regulations and organizational policies.
- Program Development Assist in the development of new programs and initiatives that cater to the unique needs of veterans, working closely with the program team to evaluate service delivery and identify areas for improvement.
- Education and Training Provide education and training to staff on veteran-specific issues, including military culture, trauma-informed care, and best practices for engaging with veterans and their families.
- Crisis Management Provide support in crisis situations, helping veterans connect with emergency services when needed and ensuring they receive timely care.

- Monitor staff mileage, including insuring that notes are in and calculations are correct. Ensure staff has current and valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
- Interview and screen applicants when necessary and complete appropriate form as outlined in personnel policies and procedures
- Provide training in general orientation of the facility, policies, procedures, operations and specific skill areas
- Objectively complete staff performance evaluations and route to Human Resources on a timely basis
- Provide staff with consultation and supervision as needed
- Provide coverage and assistance during crisis resolution as needed
- Effectively collaborate with other AltaPointe programs and outside sources
- Seek clinical supervision and consultation as needed

- Certified by the Alabama Department of Mental Health to provide adult case management services
- Knowledge of psychiatric disorders in the adult population
- Knowledge of behavior management, crisis intervention and interventions common to acute psychotic consumers, as well as, to non-violent crisis intervention practice
- Knowledge of psychiatric rehabilitation principles
- Knowledge of educational methods appropriate to adults with psychiatric disorders
- Knowledge of State, Medicaid, Medicare, and Joint Commission on Healthcare Accreditation standards and practices
