*This is a hybrid role (one day per week on Collaboration Wednesdays in our Novi office).
Altarum is seeking a talented and motivated Business Intelligence Specialist with a robust background in data analysis, to create, deploy, and manage BI and reporting solutions with Power BI, Cognos Analytics, and other tools. The ideal candidate will have 4 to 7 years of experience in BI and data analysis, with a strong ability to transform data into actionable insights that drive business decisions.
\n- Generates reports, visualizations, dashboards, and metrics to provide business insights and support decision-making
- Uses Power BI, and Excel for meaningful data presentations
- Builds analytical data models, manages data integration, data preparation, and supports the business use of data
- Performs ETL operations to load data into Power BI for accurate reporting
- Creates data warehouses used for reporting or analysis
- Collaborates with stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and understand business needs
- Ensure timely delivery of BI solutions that meet business requirements
- Works with data stewards and data and application owners to improve the quality, availability and useability of enterprise data assets
- Optimizes and maintains current Power BI solutions for better performance and usability
- Ensures data accuracy and integrity through regular audits and validation
- Creates and maintains documentation that includes the design, requirements, schemas, data models, among others
- Ensures compliance with data governance and security policies
- Trains and supports business users in effective Power BI usage
- Stays up to date on industry trends, tools, and technologies to continually enhance the BI function and support business growth
- Shares innovative ideas to evaluate new data analytics and AI technologies for meeting the organization’s information needs
- BS degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field
- 4 years as a business intelligence specialist or analyst using Power BI, Cognos Analytics, Tableau, or similar tools
- Experience with Microsoft BI stack including Power BI, SSIS, Microsoft SQL Server, or Microsoft Fabric
- Proficiency in data modeling, DAX, and M code within Power BI
- Familiarity with data integration and ETL processes to connect Power BI to various data sources
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to translate complex data into meaningful insights
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with stakeholders and cross-functional teams
- Costpoint, UKG,and Cognos Analytics experience are a plus
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and a quick learner. Should have extensive reporting and analytics experience, and be eager to grow technically through hands-on experience and learning
- MS degree is a plus

- Our organization requires that all work, for the duration of your employment, must be completed in the continental U.S. unless required by contract.
- If you are local to our offices in Arlington, Silver Spring, Novi, or Portland this role will be hybrid (in office on Wednesdays - collaboration days).
- Must be able to work during eastern time unless approved by your manager.
- Employees working remotely must have a dedicated, ergonomically appropriate workspace free from distractions with a mobile device that allows for productive and efficient conduct of business.

Salary : $100,206 - $115,500
