The Senior Credit Analyst at altbanq is a key player in our credit and risk assessment team, supporting the Chief Risk Officer and working closely with underwriters to ensure the quality and profitability of our loan portfolio. This role is ideal for someone who excels at financial analysis, credit evaluation, and decision-making while contributing to the development of innovative lending products.

Location and Work Environment:

Location: Midtown, New York City.

Work Schedule: This is an on-site position, 5 days a week from 9:30 to 6:00.

A Day in the Life:

  • Review borrower credit reports, background checks, and conduct searches for liens, judgments, bankruptcies, criminal records, lawsuits, corporate filings, Secretary of State filings, and UCCs
  • Analyze financial documents, including bank statements, profit and loss statements, balance sheets, accounts receivable, and tax returns, to assess cash flow and risk
  • Determine credit eligibility and recommend loan amounts based on detailed cash flow analysis and risk assessment
  • Price loans and establish repayment terms (weekly, biweekly, or monthly) using altbanq’s proprietary pricing model
  • Collaborate with the Chief Risk Officer and underwriters to evaluate complex cases and ensure adherence to altbanq’s risk guidelines
  • Prepare comprehensive credit memos summarizing findings and recommendations for internal review
  • Monitor market trends and borrower industries to provide insights on risk mitigation and lending opportunities
  • Support the development of new lending products and credit policies to expand altbanq’s offerings

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in credit analysis, underwriting, or a similar role, preferably in business financing or short-term loans
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Collaboration: A team player who communicates effectively with internal teams and leadership
  • Growth Mindset: Eager to take on responsibilities, mentor junior staff, and contribute to altbanq’s strategic goals

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in financial analysis and modeling
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with Salesforce (highly preferred)
  • Familiarity with credit reports, cash flow analysis, and risk assessment tools

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary: $100,000 - $150,000, depending on experience.
