Production Supervisor

Job Scope

Direct on-shift staff to operate a heavy media recovery facility at Altech Recycling. This position is a working supervisor.

Essential Functions

· Achieve production targets for volume processed material recovery and quality

o Direct shift production staff to perform work duties. Train new staff as needed.

o Monitor equipment for visual and software indications of abnormal performance

o Ensure material quality meets standards.

o Monitor and record shift production metrics.

· Ensure shift employees’ adherence to Altech safety guidelines.

· Fully understand and ensure compliance with environmental, landfill and storm water policies and procedures.

· Responsible for preventative maintenance on the heavy media equipment along with directing activities for internal and external maintenance and breakdowns. Will assist in completing hands-on maintenance as needed. Coordinate complex maintenance issues with Altech management and maintenance personnel.

· Manages spare parts inventory, preventative and emergency maintenance of all equipment in the operation to ensure preservation of capital investment and minimization of unplanned downtime.

· Diligently and accurately tracks production volumes on a daily basis. Enters this information into existing spreadsheets and IT systems to ensure accurate reporting of financial results and appropriate pricing of feedstock.

· Effectively communicates and coordinates with multiple departments within Altech to ship by truck, rail and/or barge to ensure material shipment deadlines are met. Responsible for on-shift communications within Altech for in-bound & out-bound material.

· Monitor employee absences and reassign duties as necessary to ensure coverage of the shift’s schedule.

· Manage the performance of the production employees under direct supervision providing constructive feedback to improve performance.

· Ensure employees follow written procedures and fill out inspection sheets for all facility activities – maintenance, cleanup, etc.

· Must be flexible with hours worked to meet production deadlines.

· Ability to lead the entire plant with minimal assistance while the Facility Manager is not on site

· Perform other responsibilities as assigned or directed.

Education/Experience:

· High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in Business or Technology a plus or can be supplemented with relevant experience.

· 3-5 years recent and relevant experience supervising a staff of equivalent size in an industrial manufacturing or processing environment required.

· Familiarity with welding, mechanical, and simple electrical maintenance.

· Must be familiar with maintenance management in order to direct maintenance employees.

· Ability to utilize Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel to communicate and track information.

· Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license.

Supervision

This position currently supervises manufacturing personnel on one shift across all days of operation. Directly manages production laborers, maintenance personnel and equipment operators.
