Cloud Financial and Cost Analyst (SME Level 1)
We are seeking a skilled Cloud Financial and Cost Analyst to join our cloud operations team. This role focuses on budgeting, analyzing cloud resource spending, and developing cost optimization strategies. You’ll collaborate with IT, finance, and cloud teams to ensure efficient cloud cost management and provide insights into spending trends.
Location: Remote (within 50 miles of a NASA Center-see listings below)
Clearance Required: Public Trust
Salary Range: $100,000 - $110,000
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage cloud budgets, forecasts, and cost reports
- Analyze cloud resource usage and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Implement cost control strategies, including rightsizing and reserved instances
- Produce detailed dashboards and reports on cloud spending and performance
- Establish financial governance policies for cloud usage and cost allocation
- Partner with technical and business teams to support budget planning and optimization
- Stay current on cloud pricing models and best practices for cost management
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, IT, or related field
- 6 years of experience with a Bachelor’s (or 10 years with an AA/AS degree)
- 3 years in cloud financial analysis, budgeting, or cost management (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Strong knowledge of cloud pricing models and cost management tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management)
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau)
- Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- ITIL v3/4 certification
- Cloud certifications (AWS Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals, etc.)
- Experience with cloud cost automation tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Background in IT budgeting or financial operations in tech environments
