Description:
- Must have Automotive experience
- Experience selecting and developing plastics and composite materials.
- Good knowledge of injection molded materials, in-mold decoration technology (thermoforming technology/compression mold/etc.) utilizing luxury materials such as synthetic leather, suede, wood, and metal
- Understanding how the luxury materials may lay if the plastic comes out of the mold with defects/fractures/fault lines)
- Experience in selection of plastic grades for different applications
- Experience with plastic injection molding process, including process optimization
- Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with other plastic manufacturing processes and their part designs (e.g. blow molding, thermal forming, vacuum forming, over molding, compression molding, slush molding)
- Experience with secondary processes (e.g. joining, painting, plating, press/vacuum lamination)
Qualifications
- Experience, selecting and developing plastics and composite materials.5 years of experience for Senior Engineer level, 8 years for Technical Specialist level.
- Must have worked in automotive development environment, ideally through complete product development process
- Proven hands-on experience with plastic injection molding process, including process optimization
- Able to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% if needed
- MS degree in polymer engineering, material science or related field
