Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Vehicle Dynamics Tuning Engineer with extensive experience in instrumentation, data acquisition, limit handling, and durability testing.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for tuning vehicle dynamics to enhance performance, handling, and overall driving experience.
This role involves hands-on testing, data analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop and refine vehicle suspension, chassis, and steering systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct vehicle dynamics tuning, including suspension, steering, and chassis optimization for performance, comfort, and durability.
- Utilize instrumentation and data acquisition tools (Siemens LMS, Race Logic, LabView, MTS Test Suite) for in-depth analysis of vehicle performance.
- Perform limit handling assessments, real-world testing, and track-based vehicle evaluations to validate performance characteristics.
- Work on NVH and durability testing, ensuring that vehicle systems meet rigorous industry standards.
- Develop and implement test procedures for on-road, off-road, and proving ground environments.
- Analyze vehicle behavior using CAN data, accelerometers, strain gauges, and transducers to fine-tune suspension and chassis setups.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, testing, and manufacturing, to refine vehicle dynamics and durability targets.
- Support vehicle benchmarking, research new technologies, and enhance testing methodologies.
- Design and fabricate test fixtures and custom test stands using SolidWorks and CATIA.
- Utilize servo-hydraulic controls tuning and develop simulated and real-world durability cycles.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in ADAS and EV testing, focusing on the interaction between vehicle dynamics and automated driving systems.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field (Associate degree with extensive experience may be considered).
- 2-4 years of experience in vehicle dynamics, NVH, and durability testing.
- Strong understanding of suspension kinematics, steering systems, and chassis tuning.
- Proficiency with data acquisition systems such as Siemens LMS, Race Logic, LabView, and MTS Test Suite.
- Hands-on experience with CAN bus systems, vehicle software calibration, and data logging tools.
- Knowledge of fabrication and mechanical testing, including MIG/TIG welding and fixture design.
- Familiarity with road simulators, proving grounds, and off-road testing environments.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to travel for testing and validation activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with OEMs, motorsports, or high-performance vehicle tuning.
- Background in EV performance benchmarking, ADAS testing, and vehicle UX/HMI evaluations.
- Advanced experience with technical writing and vehicle evaluation reporting.
- Fork truck and overhead crane operation certification is a plus.
