What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paint Robot Programmer position at ALTEN?
Scope of work and capabilities:
- Develop brush settings and trajectories offline with Robot Studio (ABB) for Flaming, Primer / Adpro, Base Coat and Clear coat application
- Conduct paint trials to achieve all required paint quality requirements on the whole painted surface of the part: Paint coverage, film thickness, surface structure, gloss, color, adhesion and scrap rate
- Evaluate paint defects, root cause analysis of the paint defects and appropriate optimization of the robotic paint process to eliminate the paint defects and achieve required scrap rate. Application related scrap rate below 1.5% (=Runs, LOB, LOC, NOK structure, off color)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience for liquid paint application for Automotive Class A exterior surfaces as robot programmer with ABB robots are required.
-Needs to have experience at Tier one or two suppliers mainly
-Needs to be able to inspect defects and find quick solutions
-Needs experience in the front lines programing the robots personally on the floor
- Manages / coordinates or take part in productivity workshops on plant request
-Participates in specific assessments when required (e.g. paint assessment) or on problem solving workshops regarding craters, dust or similar problems
- Proposes solutions to the work group and/or validate proposed solutions (adjustments, products / process modifications)
- Organizes and performs paint trials
- Achieves customer paint quality requirements as per project time line and obtains customer part approval
-Ensures the set-up of robots and paint application equipment in the paint shop, for all possible paint applications, in accordance with standards and best practices, and implemented capitalized actions from previous projects
-Creates and improves paint application parameters (Paint consumption, cycle time …)
-Based on results and analyses of main defects, looks for root causes of defects and build a plan for continuous improvement of paint application
