Basic Job Functions:
Altenloh, Brinck & Co. US, Inc. manufactures and distributes engineered fasteners under the SPAX® brand for the construction market, TRUFAST® for the commercial roofing industry and TRUFASTWalls® for exterior building envelopes and facades. The Tool Room attendant is responsible for the maintenance and inventory of supplies within the tool room.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Manage distribution of tool room inventory: “Picks” tools from Kardex inventory system as requested from manufacturing. Collects used tools in exchange for new tools and records tool life in database.
- Operate and maintain equipment: (i.e. presses, grinders, Dremel, Kardex, Pin grinder and polishing lathe): operate and maintain equipment stated above in a safe and efficient manner
- Manage stock levels of Kardex & tool room supplies: Using PPG software remove and input tooling accurately into Kardex. Do any needed preparation work prior to inputting into inventory. Inventory tool room supplies needed (emery cloth, grinding wheels, and other miscellaneous supplies). Communicates re-order quantities to tool room supervisor. Cycle counts of Kardex to ensure inventory accuracy upon receipts and issues and by shelf for a complete inventory count quarterly.
- Work with engineering to produce accurate tooling setups: Inspect and verify that tooling is correct and properly functions per production schedule.
- Prepare tooling for production: Using scheduled forecast prepare tooling to verify it production ready, clean, and correct for production run. Upon return of setup box from production floor Ensure all tooling is returned clean and ready for inspection for next run, along with sequence of last run blanks. Replace any broken or worn tooling and return to setup box shelf for next run.
- Be able to use measuring tools (i.e. gage balls, gage pins, height gage, Rockwell tester). Inspect tooling components at various stages of completion to ensure quality. Keep all gages and tooling organized to ensure effective use of time.
- Quality Inspection: Verifies dimensional accuracy of manufactured and purchased tooling to engineering drawing and quality control plan specifications. Loads tooling into Kardex after passing inspection.
- Keep track of the flow of issues: If tooling is being issued too often or not attaining expected tool life alert set-up operator and supervisor. If inventory shortage notify supervisor immediately.
- Checks in vendor shipments: Receives in outside shipments from shipping department for tooling and maintenance areas. Processes pack slips and shipping paperwork appropriately.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of tool room and tool room inventory: Keep all supplies and inventory organized and clearly labeled on shelves and in Kardex. Clear clutter from workbenches, sweep floors, and empty scrap hopper daily. Discards packaging and dunnage from received shipments.
- Continuously work to improve tooling setup methods and procedures: Work with others to continuously learn and improve skills and tooling quality
