Job Title: Night Shift Charge Nurse
Location: Orange County and San Diego county

Schedule : 3x12 Sunday-Tuesday or Thursday-Saturday - 7pm-7:30am
Pay : Up to $43/hr for LVN, Starting at $43 /hr for RN - DOE
As the Charge Nurse in Primary Mental Health Residential and Crisis Treatment, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care under the guidance of the Nursing Manager. This position involves medication management, scheduling, and leadership responsibilities overseeing multiple locations within a dynamic mental health residential and crisis treatment environment.
The organization is highly accredited and growing and is expected to open additional facilities.
Responsibilities
Shift Management
- Responsible for scheduling, managing coverage for callouts, safety checks at all facilities, ensuring completion of mediation audits and shift tasks, maintaining professional conduct throughout the organization, ensure compliance with policies and procedures
- Documentation Review: ensure accurate and timely completion of patient records, treatment notes, and incident reports
- Complete regular chart audits of nursing documentation and medication administration records for all clients, ensuring compliance with documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
Leadership
- Provide leadership and mentorship to nursing and care coordinator staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. Ensure company culture is transmitted to all staff
- Conflict resolution: Address and resolve conflicts among staff or with clients, maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment
- Family Coordination: Act as a liaison between clients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure clear communication and support
Training
- Assist in the onboarding process- provide training and feedback to all new hires. Reassure new hires have access to EMR, Labs, and ERx portal
- Complete nursing competency for new hire nursing and care coordinator staff
- Complete quarterly skills checks on all nursing staff
- Conduct frequent trainings to reassure staff compliance with day to day procedures within all facilities
- Develop training materials and resources to enhance staff knowledge and promote success.
Medication Management
- Collaborate with Nursing Manager and healthcare providers to ensure accurate and up-to-date medication orders
- Educate and counsel patients on medication compliance and potential side effects
- medication refills; managing the delivery and receiving of the medication
- Ensuring all clients medications are refilled in a timely manner
Patient Care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Update Medication Education Group Curriculums reassuring that groups are interactive and focus on medication compliance
- Conducting and charting Individual Medication support session
- Scheduling all client off site doctors appointments ensuring that appointments are completed when the Nursing Lead is on shift.
- Monitor client progress and provide weekly client updates to Nursing Manager
Communication and Collaboration
- Act as a liaison between nursing staff and management, ensuring effective communication and resolution of issues
- Record and communicate staff call-outs while tracking and monitoring for patterns and trends
- Work closely with the Nursing Manager to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
- Attend and actively participate in meetings and trainings
- Collaborate and communicate with other Charge Nurses to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications:
- Licensure: Current license or permit to practice professional nursing in the state of California
- Hospital Charge Nurse experience is required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing Preferred
- 2 years in management or role as nursing supervisor, preferably for mental health and addiction. Hospital experience strongly desired.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of behavioral health nursing clinical practices and management, including mental health diagnosis and treatment.
- Extensive knowledge of principles and practices relevant to nursing and patient care activities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to plan, direct, and monitor others’ activities with demonstrated leadership abilities that contribute to a positive work environment
- Proficiency with common computer based applications such as electronic mail, word processing and various databases. Familiarity with KIPU EMR
