What You Will Do
As an Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Senior Software Engineer you will be working on Altera’s state-of the-art and premier Quartus Prime Software Tool that is used to program the best-in-class Silicon chips called Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). In this role you will be developing the Quartus Prime software for Altera’s market beating next generation FPGA devices. Your scope of responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Using C/C to develop advanced and highly efficient Placement, Routing and Mapping algorithms for various peripheral blocks (such as High-Speed Transceivers, Network on Chip, Hardened Arm Processor) within the FPGAs.
- Collaborating with hardware teams on the hardware/software co-design architecture of our next generation of peripheral blocks, with heavy focus on placement and mapping software features.
- Architecting and implementing highly efficient and high-quality algorithms to support advanced Placement and Mapping software features for our next generation FPGA devices
- Generating logical models for peripheral blocks to enable creation of IP Designs
- Owning various analytical/logical/CAD tasks involved in compilation of various peripheral components
FPGAs are used in fast growing data-centers, military applications, high end networking equipment (cell phone towers), automotive (vision system in cars), and various industrial applications including medical devices. As a part of this team, you will research, design, develop, and optimize software tools that enable the use of FPGAs. Our engineers develop and optimize compilers, flows, models, tools, and runtimes that are closely coupled to FPGA silicon and IP. They will be learning about FPGAs and hardware logic design in their day-to-day job activities and will have many opportunities to respond to customer/client requests or events as they occur.
Salary Range
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor within the US market. Actual salary may vary based on a number of factors including job location, job-related knowledge, skills, experiences, trainings, etc. We also offer incentive opportunities that reward employees based on individual and company performance.

Qualifications:
What We Want to See
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field with 5 plus years of software development experience (hardware/silicon environment) in one or more software programming/scripting languages (C/C , Java, Python/Perl/Tcl) (MSCE/MSEE with 3 years can also be considered)
