Your role as a I&C Intern
The Instrumentation and Controls Intern will gain hands-on experience by supporting various projects and tasks within the Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) department. This role is designed to provide exposure to the fundamentals of drafting, automation, and project management while assisting team members with essential responsibilities. The internship will focus on building foundational skills and offering a well-rounded introduction to the I&C field.
Learning and Supporting Automation Systems
· Assist with basic troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and other automation components.
· Observe and participate in the programming of PLCs and HMIs under supervision.
· Help maintain software documentation and testing procedures.
Drafting and Design
· Learn and use AutoCAD software to create and modify simple technical drawings.
· Assist in managing layers, adding dimensions, and organizing files as per project requirements.
· Follow standard drafting procedures and maintain accuracy in drawings.
Project Support
· Attend project meetings to observe project planning and execution processes.
· Assist with basic documentation, such as Requests for Information (RFIs) and material file management.
· Shadow team members in preparing schedules and understanding project workflows.
Field Exposure
· Visit job sites to observe equipment setup, system integration, and on-site troubleshooting.
· Participate in equipment inspections and learn to document findings effectively.
Additional Tasks and Learning Opportunities
· Perform other duties as assigned, including supporting team members with administrative or technical tasks.
